You’ve done it, I’ve done it …

SCROLL 8 MILLION PAGES TO GET TO THE RECIPE YOUR WATERING MOUTH NEEDS

And how did your mouth start watering??? Let’s read that recipe:

one great ‘call to action’ or ‘search optimized’ title
combined with a very well branded photo that made the recipe look BOMB-DIGGITY
top that with a possible ‘boost’ to FB and Instagram to get it in front of viewers
add a dash of time (more like probably an entire week of time for one post)
fold in mega bucks to host the website you’re viewing it on

and voila!!! A recipe blog post is made!

BUT YOU’RE PISSED BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO SCROLL THROUGH THE BLOGGER’S THOUGHTS AND BULLSH*T …

Uhm, do you think a blogger should pay for every single thing and you just get to reap the benefits of that? That they should pay for:

the photographer that captured the beautiful end product of the recipe you want to consume
the hosting for their website
the domain for their website
the possible boosting money for posts / marketing
the money to pay their staff (if they have one)
the money for all the ingredients used for the recipe
and don’t even get me started on:

THE BLOGGER’S TIME AND WORK SPENT TO GET YOU YOUR NECESSARY RECIPE

… and you can’t scroll for 30 seconds to get there???? OMFG, just stop it! We are such a sad culture of needing it RIGHT NOW .. gimme gimme gimme!!!! Do you even know why the blogger, who put a week into that ONE BLOG POST has you scroll through bullish*t they probably didn’t even want to write!!!????

ADS. YES ADS.

There is a thing called ‘paid by impression’ ads that are PAYING THE BLOGGER their income! As you angrily scroll and piss and moan through all the words the blogger had to ‘eye roll’ through as they typed to get just enough ‘views on their ads’ - each ad is making an IMPRESSION and therefore PAYING the blogger.

Look, I’m not trying to be a bitch … but I am so sick of people not understanding what WORK goes into each blog post on any of the blogs you are loving! It’s maddening! People won’t pay for ads anymore, so bloggers have to get scrappy … they find other avenues of getting paid for their time and it’s like they can’t win …

Next time you are scrolling for 30 seconds (probably way less if we’re being honest) to get to your ‘chocolate cake recipe’ take a minute to think about all the time that went into all the pieces you are hating … think about WHY that is there … take a glance at the ads on the sidebar (which are probably based on what you talk about in your house … since ‘they’ are listening) … click on one that you are interested in << bloggers get paid MORE for clicks in some cases …
