THE MARKET SPEAKS … ARE YOU LISTENING?
In an economy like we have now, it’s important to listen to the market when it speaks to you … with pricing, it seems you have two options:
Price higher and possibly have less clients, but be paid what you feel you deserve based on your experience and skill level.
Price lower and have more clients, but risk feeling resentful when you aren’t paid as much as you’d like.
Using either option, you may end up earning the same in the end, but with one you’ll have less clients out there singing your praises … potentially …
A problem I see often is business owners IGNORING the market and what it’s telling them and then getting upset when they aren’t getting hired like they used to … here is how I like to approach this as a business owner, but just because it works for me, doesn’t mean it works for everyone …
PRICE JUST SLIGHTLY ABOVE AVERAGE FOR A LUXURY PRODUCT AND SERVICE
I offer a luxury service … my websites are beautiful, my background in SEO and UEO are extensive, I have a well trained eye, and I am VERY decisive … the websites I design are very successful for my clients and I am in demand … I could charge over $10,000 PER website … but I don’t … and here’s why:
I WANT MORE CLIENTS TALKING ABOUT HOW MUCH THEY LOVE THEIR WEBSITES … I WANT A FULL PORTFOLIO … AND I WANT TO BE ABLE TO WORK WITH LOTS OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF BUSINESS OWNERS.
Pricing a service is one of the hardest things a business owner faces … IMO … we all have lives to pay for and bills aren’t going to stop coming in … right now, especially (December 2023) bills, groceries, daily spending is VERY HIGH and we are all feeling it … it’s a nervous time for everyone, especially small business owners … this advice might help you, it might not … but it has worked for me and so I wanted to share!
