LEARNING TO LOVE LIKES LESS
Something crazy has happened lately ... I decided to change my attitude about 'likes' on Instagram ... I decided that I just don't give a sh*t if people like my posts or not ... and I started posting again ... often ... 3 times a day on good days!! Sometimes my posts get over 100 likes and sometimes they only get 45 or so ... but now that I don't give a f*ck about what happens, I've noticed something ... traffic to my website and inquiries are getting back to what they were before!!!!!
COOL HAH????
I think I thought that if less people are liking my posts then less people are seeing them ... but I'm not sure I was right!! I think that maybe the overall 'attitude' towards Instagram changed and people were less active than before ... or ...
MAYBE NOW I JUST GET THE 'RIGHT' EYES ON MY POSTS AND LESS SPAM
Either way, I am throwing my love for likes right out the window ... I am posting for myself and the following who sees them ... I figure:
WE'RE ALL IN THE EXACT SAME BOAT, RIGHT??
So, if before I had 300+ 'likes' per post right away and now I am lucky to break 100 ... it's just the new normal ... and I'm not alone.
I still think that everyone needs to bring their best stuff 'back home' to the platforms they can control ... I think we all need to blog more ... update our websites more ... add to our portfolios more ... etc, etc, etc ... but I'm changing my tune when it comes to hating the new Instagram algorithm ...
I'VE ALSO PICKED UP ON A FEW NEW TRICKS ...
Here are a few things I've figured out about the new Instagram ways:
Be sure to follow accounts that are similar to yours ... similar to yours in vibe, industry, focus, and 'localness'
Be sure to comment more than you like ... and try to make your comments genuine and use 4 words or more
When someone is kind enough to comment on one of your posts, try to reply and quickly! Like, within 15 minutes ... and try to make your reply 4 words or more
Use Stories and often! Adding to my Story might be my new favorite thing in the whole wide world
Of course, all of that ^^ advice could change anytime ... but it's been working well for me! I'm curious, how do you feel about Instagram right now? Leave a comment!
