ARE YOU MAKING PEOPLE WHO WANT TO REFER YOU CLIENTS WORK OVERTIME?
I love my clients ... and usually, most of the time, they love me back << just read my reviews! I get thanked a lot for designing dream websites and having businesses skyrocket into a place that is filled with constant inquiries, increased traffic and a crazy awesome confidence boost that makes the owner of these companies I design for feel they are unstoppable << and then, they are.
I LOVE IT.
But ... there is another form of 'thank you' I get a lot ... and that is another business owner being thankful that a company they like to work with is getting a website facelift.
WHY WOULD THEY EVEN CARE??
BECUZ THIS:
If a wedding professional or other creative wants to tell their bride about how awesome you are ... how your work is unbelievable ... how you are a powerhouse who creates 'the pretty' all over town ... but then has to say:
BUT DON'T JUDGE THEM ON THEIR WEBSITE ... I PROMISE THEY ARE AMAZING!!!
Well ... it kinda ruins it, right?? If there is a wedding planner who has to work overtime constantly to get potential clients to IGNORE your hideous and dated website, there is going to come a day when they stop wanting to do that and just find another company to refer that doesn't LIE on their website.
YES, LIE
Does your website lie??? Does it show the world that you:
don't create current and pretty things
don't understand the importance branding your company
don't know how to create a high-end wedding
don't know how to take care of your business
don't understand that mobile functionality is important
^^ but really you do care about all that??? Well, what do they say???
A PICTURE PAINTS A THOUSAND WORDS
Your website is very telling ... whether it be good, bad or ugly. If it's embarrassing for another professional to send people to, then eventually they won't. And that is a very scary thing. Referrals are EVERYTHING!! Aren't they???
I'm telling you that the times I get thanked for designing a website that doesn't belong to the company thanking me are A LOT ... and it's like:
OMG THANK F*CKING GAWD THEY ARE GETTING A NEW WEBSITE!!! IT'S SO SO SO BAD AND I HATE SENDING POTENTIAL CLIENTS THERE!
So ... hire me, hire someone else, do it yourself ... but don't keep a website that isn't doing you a service ... or that isn't helping other companies want to refer their clients to you.
XO~ Heather
