KEEP YOUR REVIEWS ON YOUR WEBSITE!

I think it’s amazing when a client has a website that hosts TONS of incredible reviews about their services … examples of this would be: The Knot or Yelp … a place where you have sent clients to leave a testimonial that can be found easily and where you can ride the traffic that website already has … BRILLIANT!!!

BUT …

I don’t think it’s amazing when I see them ‘click out’ to that page from their business website so people can read those reviews … and here’s why:

  1. Bounce Rate: you’ve just created one less page view from your visitor by sending them away from your website

  2. Attention: when you send a visitor to another website, they may lose interest in focusing on you and click to other pages, forgetting you exist

  3. UEO: both of those together create poor UEO, which is user experience optimization

Instead, proudly showcase your best reviews WITHIN your website …

When people stay on your website to read your reviews, they are focused on you … you have the opportunity to guide them to any other page that you want … such as your portfolio or to contact you …

If you don’t have a page on your business website for reviews, contact your website designer and ask them to please add one for you! Hopefully this shouldn’t be too large of a cost to you and the benefits will be amazing!

PRO TIP: Never be shy about asking your clients for reviews!!! It’s one of the things I always send in my ‘mockup package email’ once a website is about to go live … if you always wait hoping one will be submitted, you may never get them … so ASK!!! There is zero wrong with that!
